I wanted to replace the pickups on a Reverend Volcano. I just wasn’t happy with the tone I was getting from this guitar. Don’t get me wrong, the pickups that came with the guitar weren’t bad. They just weren’t providing me with the tone that I like. I’m into the “Classic” Hard Rock and Old School Metal from the 1970s, Blues, and Stoner/Doom Metal. I have a vintage 1979 Marshall JMP 2204, a Laney GH50L, and a Framus Dragon that go through an Engl Pro 4×12 cab loaded with Warehouse Guitar Speakers. I also have a Marshall DCL40C and a Peavey Delta Blues 410. And I use a slew of fuzz, distortion, overdrive, and boost pedals. I prefer pickups that have a warm, vintage tone when played clean. I don’t like high output pickups because I don’t think they sound as good as lower output pickups when played clean. That’s why I love the Legacy pickups. Not only do they sound awesome when played clean, they sound incredible when I use my pedals. Most of the time there are certain pedal/amp combinations that either like a certain guitar or they don’t. I’ve yet to find a pedal/amp combination that doesn’t like my Reverend with the Legacys. The Legacys have such a sweet tone. All I can say is if you’re into the same genres of music I’m into, the you really need to have these pups in your guitars. Let me put it to you this way, I’m very serious when it comes to my tone. Like any guitarist who’s chasing after that “Holy Grail” tone they hear in their head, I have spent a lot of money on pickups from different companies. Now that I’ve discovered Planet Tone pickups, my search is over. I will never buy pickups from another company ever again. These Legacys are magical. Planet Tone pickups have serious mojo!

These pickups sound incredible! I installed them in my Les Paul and they have the perfect tone. I run my Les Paul through a Hughes and Kettner setup, and can’t believe how good it sounds. I purchased some Southern Heritages from Jose not too long ago, and installed them on my other Les Paul. They sound great also, but the Legacy’s seem like they were meant for Les Paul’s. I get every tone I want. Blues, rock, classic rock, blues rock, and metal. These pickups do it all. Jose was able to get these ready for me and ship them out very fast. I’ve decided that all of my guitars will have Planet Tone pickups in them. For the price, you can’t beat them. Even with high dollar pickups! Once you install these Legacy’s, you will wonder why you didn’t have them before. I highly recommend these for any style of playing.

This is a solid pickup with a slightly vintage feel. I was looking for something in the PAF Pro territory and this is similar but with a unique voice. Somewhere between an old Seymore and a PAF. Very playable and reacts fantastically with my dynamic pick attacks and playing style.
If you are on the fence about spending $100 or more on a big brand give these guys a shot.
